The Seven Methods of Time Power

This is by Brian Tracy, I thought it was great, wanted to share.

There are seven methods that you can use to help develop the habits of time management. The more you think about and practice these methods, the more rapidly you will program yourself to be efficient and highly productive.

First
Remember that your self-image determines your performance. You always perform on the outside in a matter consistent with the picture you have of yourself on the inside.
Practice visualizing and imagining yourself as you want to be, not as you may have been in the past. You can actually change your self-image permanently by repeatedly visualizing yourself as someone who is highly efficient and effective.

Second
Remember that it takes about twenty-one days of practice and repetition to form a new habit pattern. It has taken you your entire lifetime to become the person you are today, with the time management habits you have at this moment. It takes time and commitment to change, and for your subconscious mind to accept the new habits.

Third
Promise yourself that you are going to become excellent at time management. Promise yourself that you are going to be punctual, and that you are going to concentrate on your most important tasks. Then, promise others that you are going to be more effective and efficient in the future.

Fourth
In developing the habits of time management, start in just one area where poor time management is holding you back. Don’t try to change everything at once. Change just one habit or activity where you know that improvement could be very helpful to you.

Fifth
Launch your new time management habit strongly. Never allow an exception once you have decided that you are going to become excellent in a particular behavior. Never let yourself off the hook.

Sixth
Use the “trial and success” method rather than the “trial and error” method. The trial and success method requires that you learn how to succeed by failing, and then by learning from your mistakes. Analyze your reasons for poor time management. Ask yourself, “What are the obstacles to my operating more efficiently in this area?” Take some time to reflect on recent behaviors.

Seventh
You must absolutely believe that you can and will become excellent at time management. The Law of Belief says that “Your beliefs become your realities.” The more intensely you believe that you can and will become excellent at time management, the more rapidly this belief becomes your reality. If you hold to your belief long enough and hard enough, it will eventually materialize as new behaviors with regard to time.

Action Exercise
Select one area where better time management skills can help you to be more efficient and get more done. Resolve to go to work on yourself in that area immediately.

EXCUSES ARE NO EXCUSE

Post written by Anna Paden - Director of Healthy Essentials Nurtition store, Enjoy!

Comedian Bob Newhart said in two words and a 5-minute comedy video on youtube of what Dr. Wayne Dyer expounded on in his new book and a 3-hour PBS special.  When it comes to making excuses for why your life is not going the way you would like:  Stop It!

In Excuses Begone! Dr. Dyer proposes that the excuses you have used your entire life to explain away what you haven’t done, can’t do, or won’t be able to do, are all “memes” or mental viruses that are completely fabricated in your own mind.  They include:

1.      It will be difficult.

2.      There will be family drama.

3.      I can’t afford it.

4.      No one will help me.

5.      I don’t deserve it.

6.      It’s not my nature.

7.      I’m not smart enough.

8.      The rules won’t let me.

It’s not that we consciously sabotage ourselves with these memes, but our habituated mind (not subconscious because we can access it if we choose) has accepted them as truths by which we have lived for as long as each of us has been on the planet.  There are subtle but substantial payoffs to hanging onto our personal memes instead of dropping them for more liberating truths.  They provide a way of avoiding what might be difficult or challenging work.  They offer the safety of the status quo and an easy way out.  They can also be used to manipulate family and others around us to do the job for us, or allow us to continue blaming others for our problems.  Maybe they keep us always being right:  “See, I told you it couldn’t be done, and I was right!”  Or they offer protection we fear we need to keep us from experiencing the present moment, so we can continue living in some fuzzy daydream about what coulda/shoulda/woulda been if the world had only treated us fairly.

Pain, anxiety, fear, anger, and the like make themselves known in your body as rashes, eczema, heart palpitations, arthritis, backaches, headaches, stomachaches, diarrhea, eyestrain, cramps, and many more ailments.  These can become your way of life and define your reality.

If you begin to acknowledge that possibly—just possibly—these don’t have to be your reality forever, then you can access the profound and universal ability to quickly change your reality, no matter how long you have been in the old one.  From now on each time you are confronted with one of your excuses, begin the habit of immediately challenging it with the following questions:

1.      “Is it true?”  Is this excuse that your mind has thrown up as a blockade to some dream or desire absolutely 100% certainly true?  If it’s not (and it won’t be), then there is an opposite and equally possible truth, so why not choose the positive one to work from?

2.      “Where did this excuse come from?”  The answer to this one is always your mind.  Someone else gave it to you or you made it up on your own, but it exists nowhere else but in your mind.

3.      “What is the payoff?”  What challenge will I avoid or what anxiety will I escape by clinging to this excuse?  I call this the Rumpelstiltskin question:  when you face it directly and answer it honestly within yourself, the excuse will disappear in a puff of smoke.

4.      “What would my life look like if I couldn’t use these excuses?”  The answer to this one is fun—here you build your dreams, without roadblocks or restrictions or excuses.

5.      “Can I create a rational reason to change?”  Change is difficult, so there must be a compelling reason to draw you out of your protective meme shell.  The three criteria for a rational reason are:  (1) it must make sense; (2) it must be do-able; (3) it must allow you to feel good; and (4) it must be aligned with the calling of your soul.

6.      “Can I access universal cooperation in shedding old habits?”  The answer to this is a resounding “yes!”  It’s been called the law of attraction, like attracts like, birds of a feather.  The universe is made of energy, and like energies are drawn as a force of nature into communion with each other.  Point your face and your heartfelt intention toward the summit, and the universe must align with your energy.

7.      “How can I continuously reinforce this new way of being?”  Refer to No. 5 and the part about feeling good.  Sense the good feeling that bubbles up when you are experiencing your dream, and return to that feeling often.  Awareness, focus, mindfulness, meditation, prayer, practice, practice, practice, one small step at a time.

Seeking Excellence!

How to set standards for excellence and back them with total integrity.

A Commitment to Excellence
Leaders have specific responsibilities and must fulfill certain requirements. One requirement of leadership is the ability to choose  what area of excellence, and hire people who are excellent where the leader is weak.  Just as a good general chooses the terrain on which to do battle, an excellent leader chooses the area in which he and others are going to do an outstanding job. The commitment to excellence is one of the most powerful of all motivators. All leaders who change people and organizations are enthusiastic about achieving excellence in a particular area.  Yours might be in building teams, communicating, or adjusting patients.  Know what you are great at and know what you are not is the key to excellence.

Be the Best!
The most motivational vision you can have for yourself and others is to “Be the best!” Many people don’t yet realize that excellent performance in serving other people is an absolute, basic essential for survival in the economy of the future. Many individuals  still adhere to the idea that as long as they are no worse than anyone else, they can remain in business. That is just plain silly! It is prehistoric thinking. We are now in the age of excellence. Clients assume that they will get excellent quality, and if they don’t, they will go to your competitors so fast, people’s heads will spin.  I know there is “no competition” in chiropractic, but what I am saying is this client will find someone who will deliver excellent service and adjustments each and every time.

Have A Vision of High Standards
As a leader, your job is to be excellent at what you do, to be the best in chiropractic. Your job is to have a vision of high standards in serving people. You not only exemplify excellence in your own behavior, but you also translate it to others so that they, too, become committed to this vision.

This is the key to servant leadership. It is the commitment to doing work of the highest quality in the service of other people, both inside and outside the office. Leadership today requires an equal focus on the people who must do the job, on the one hand, and the people who are expected to benefit from the job, on the other.

The Most Respected Quality
The second quality, which is perhaps the single most respected quality of leaders, is integrity. Integrity is complete, unflinching honesty with regard to everything that you say and do. Integrity underlies all the other qualities. Your measure of integrity is determined by how honest you are in the critical areas of your life.

Integrity means this: When someone asks you at the end of the day, “Did you do your very best?” you can look him in the eye and say, “Yes!” Integrity means this: When someone asks you if you could have done it better, you can honestly say, “No, I did everything I possibly could.” Integrity means this: When someone examines your life, you are living what you are telling them to live!

Integrity means that you, as a leader, admit your shortcomings. It means that you work to develop your strengths and hire strong people for your weaknesses. Integrity means that you tell the truth, and that you live the truth in everything that you do and in all your relationships. Integrity means that you deal straightforwardly with people and situations and that you do not compromise what you believe to be true.  Integrity means that the client gets a treatment plan that THEY need, not what the insurance company will pay for.

Action Exercises
Now, here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, identify the area of chiropractic where excellent performance can contribute the very most to productivity and profits. Focus all your efforts in this area.  Most of the time this is adjusting and communicating.

Second, do your very best in what you do, and train the staff to do their best. Imagine that everyone is watching (because they are) even when no one is watching. Imagine that everyone in your office was going to do their work exactly the way you do yours.

Never compromise your standards, go save some lives today!

Choice of Inspiration

Will  today’s thoughts be dominated by inspiration or desperation.  Circumstances will always come, and your philosophy will determine how you see life after.  One guy lets cancer lead him to Livestrong for himself and others, another chooses to stop living life before he is even dead.

Dig deep on what you believe today about  how you see life should be lived, and live it full out.  Today I will live to be inspired so that I can inspire others.  Don’t just livestrong, but live inspired!  Inspiration begets inspiration.

I believe that no matter the circumstances or situation, you have a choice in how you respond to it.  You deepest, conscious or even unconscious beliefs will dictate how you imerge from it.  Choose very wisely, what beliefs guide you each and every day!

Prescriptions, Suicide, and Violence

Nine years ago Dr. Christopher Lyden wrote an article claiming that every incident of a school shooting or act of extreme violence involved the perpetrator being on “psychotropic drugs” (mood altering medications, like anti-depressants). The local media in Philadelphia was not interested in printing it because it was too ‘controversial and inflammatory.’ He later created a PowerPoint presentation for other doctors around the country to use in their local communities to teach people about the problems of treating ADD/ADHD with Ritalin and psychotropic drugs. Such advice went largely unheeded. Since then, there have been thousands of additional incidents of violence associated with the use of psychotropic drugs in general, and with anti-depressants specifically. The relationship between these very common drugs and violence (homicide and suicide) appears to be more than coincidental. It is so consistent that some court cases have established it to be causal (one directly causing the other).

How does this affect you? People you know are on these drugs. One out of eight Americans has been on or is currently taking an anti-depressant!  You or a family member may be one of them. Your children and/or friends will likely be encouraged to take them at some point.

I urge you to click on the link below and see the volume of articles and cases confirming the vast number of incidents of violence associated with antidepressants. The list goes on, not by a few dozen, not even by hundreds of cases, but by the thousands and thousands. Every case of school shootings and violence committed by a young person seems to have been related to SSRI use. Not some–all of them–were taking some type of prescribed psychotropic drugs. These drugs are known to induce “violent behavior, psychosis, hallucinations, suicide, homicidal thoughts and ideation, delusions, altered affect (emotional state)”… and on and on. These, and many other similar ’side effects’ are actually listed in the fine print of the drug inserts. Any wonder why people on these drugs commit acts they normally would not?

Share this information with people that you know. Some have been convinced to take these drugs, others are parents of children who will be encouraged to put their children on one of them at some point in their young lives. You can stop another atrocity, if you inform them of the dangers. Their physicians are not doing so. Patients must legally give “informed consent” to accept any therapeutic procedure. I ask you–how can one give informed consent if they are not ‘informed’ of the possible dangers?

The PDR(the drug reference bible for physicians) strongly warns against putting anyone under 18 years of age on SSRIs (anti-depressants), because it can increase their risk of committing suicide up to three-fold, yet over 6 million young people in America now take prescribed psychotropic drugs! Children as young as one year old are now given ‘peppermint-flavored’ anti-depressants! (Why?) I have seen perfectly normal patients go stark raving mad–truly psychotic–within days of starting an anti-depressant (prescribed by another physician).

Please share this with those you know to help stop one of the biggest (legal) drug problems in America. A few thousand people die each year from illegal drugs, while over 200,000 Americans die every year as a result of their prescribed medications. Forward this to friends and family.

Stop Motivating Your Employees!

Instead, work to keep them from being demotivated.

How do I motivate my staff? That question seems to baffle most chiropractic offices. Motivating people seems to be more elusive than almost any other aspect of management. For that reason there are countless articles and classes devoted to it.

But, in reality, the strongest business leaders don’t motivate their employees.

That’s right, as a business leader, your job is not to motivate.  It is your job to make sure the right people are on the bus, as is describe in the book “Good to Great”.  Your other job is making sure the right people are in the right positions.

Humans come naturally to hard work and sacrifice; these traits are essential to the survival of our species. The brain is  hardwired with the desire to do quality work. You may view motivating employees to be a critical aspect of your job, but have you ever had an employee express the need to be motivated? Do you need a boss to motivate you to do your job in the office? Unless you’re a very unusual person, your answer to both questions is no. You can be certain that most employees feel the same.

If an employee is truly unmotivated, it’s probably time to take him/her off the payroll. Meanwhile, the critical issue isn’t how to motivate but, rather, how to keep people from becomingdemotivated. And the strongest business leaders understand this distinction.  De-motivation happens when someone is out of their natural gifts and/or they don’t see the bigger picture.  Having a clear vision is critical to avoiding de-motivation.

You can be certain, for example, that everyone on your staff wants the following from you and always will: (1) clear direction (both in job description and vision), (2) the resources to perform as required and (3) never to be treated disrespectfully. A work environment structured to provide those three things is also exactly what deliver the experience that our loyal patients want too..  Provide your employees these three things, and you will be on your way to leadership greatness. Fail to do so, and you may be an adequate leader but you’ll never be a great one.

All Chiropractors can be great leaders if they work to understand how to lead.

Enjoy!  Loving and Livin,

Dr. W
